Culkin began his career at the age of four with several small movie appearances. He got his big break in the film Uncle Buck alongside the late John Candy. Home Alone skyrocketed him to fame at just 10 years old and not long after, starred in Home Alone II: Lost in New York. He appeared in My Girl and Richie Rich but struggled to see the kind of fame Home Alone brought him. He decided to take a step back from acting in 1995.

For a while, he felt like he would never act again and even turned down a huge payday for Home Alone 3. In the mid-2000s, he caught the acting bug again and tried to star in darker roles that might get rid of his child star image. 2003’s Party Monster, also starring Lyonne. was his return to acting after a nine-year hiatus. He went on to appear in films such as Saved! and Changeland, shows such as Will & Grace, and even stage productions.
