It seems the days of Fleetwood Mac are over. Stevie Nicks recently opened up about the future of the iconic band and admitted that she probably won’t ever perform under Fleetwood Mac ever again. Nicks has been touring and performing solo, as well as embarking on a joint tour with Billy Joel.

Her reasons for hanging up her Fleetwood Mac hat are pretty heartbreaking. She doesn’t believe the band should go on without the late Christine McVie. McVie passed away last year at 79 years old after experiencing a stroke. She was also battling cancer. Nicks shared about her best friend, “We did go out on the road and do a year-and-a-half tour with [Lindsey Buckingham replacements] Neil Finn and Mike Campbell. We had a really great time and it was a huge tour. That was there in the realm of possibility. But when Christine died, I felt like you can’t replace her. You just can’t. Without her, what is it? You know what I mean?”

She continued, “She was like my soul mate, my musical soul mate, and my best friend that I spent more time with than any of my other best friends outside of Fleetwood Mac. Christine was my best friend… Who am I going to look over to on the right and have them not be there behind that Hammond organ? When she died, I figured we really can’t go any further with this. There’s no reason to.”

Despite mourning her best friend, Nicks has been in good spirits while touring lately. During a recent New York City show, she unveiled the new Barbie created in her likeness. The Barbie wears an outfit reminiscent of what she wore on the cover of Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours album. She joked that she brings the doll around her tour with her and takes photos in every city. She added that the doll has a boyfriend too: an Elvis Presley-inspired Ken doll. Ooh la la.

She said, “I named him Kenelvis, and I introduced Kenelvis to Stevie Barbie. I have photographs of these two that will absolutely knock the world’s socks off. They look at each other in a way that’s like they’ve been in love for centuries.”
