Friends: “The One With the Jellyfish”

TBS, 4pm

In the Season 4 premiere episode from 1997, Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow) learns her mother’s identity, and Ross (David Schwimmer) makes a decision about Rachel (Jennifer Aniston). But the real reason we remember this episode is because Monica (Courteney Cox) gets stung by a jellyfish and someone — ANYONE! — has to pee on her to relieve the pain. (This supposedly does not work.)

The Andy Griffith Show: “Gomer Pyle USMC”

TV Land, 5:48pm

In what’s known as a “backdoor pilot,” the Season 4 finale of The Andy Griffith Show in 1964 also served as the series premiere for the spinoff Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C., in which Gomer Pyle (Jim Nabors) joins the Marine Corps and immediately runs afoul of Sgt. Carter (Frank Sutton), and then continues to do so for 150 episodes.

M*A*S*H: “Dreams”

MeTV, 7pm

M*A*S*H went into some surreal territory with this memorable, haunting 1980 episode. A wave of incoming wounded keeps the 4077th running on no sleep. And when they can sneak in a few winks, most of them have nightmares about the young men whose lives or limbs they cannot save.

The Dick Cavett Show: “Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier”

Decades, 9pm

Dick Cavett joins Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier to discuss their big match and even does some exercise routines in this episode that originally aired on Jan. 21, 1974. Four days later, Ali and Frazier squared off in “Super Fight II” at New York City’s Madison Square Garden.
