The world is still fascinated with the late Elvis Presley, his career, and his love life. After the success of the Baz Luhrmann biopic Elvis, which centered around the relationship between Elvis and his manager Col. Tom Parker, another film is now being released about his one true love. Oscar-winning director Sofia Coppola brings us the new drama Priscilla, which recently debuted at the Venice Film Festival, that shares the controversial relationship between Elvis and Priscilla Presley.

Priscilla was adapted from the memoir “Elvis and Me,” and shares the story of how the couple met while in Germany when she was just 14 years old (in ninth grade). While the relationship started out innocently, they went on to marry when she was 21. They had one daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, who sadly died earlier this year at the age of 54. The film stars Cailee Spaeny as a young Priscilla and Jacob Elordi (Euphoria) as Elvis. “It’s very difficult to sit and watch a film about you, about your life, about your love. Sofia did an amazing job. She did her homework, we spoke a couple of times and I really put everything out for her that I could,” Priscilla shared at a press conference at the film festival.

She continued, “It was very difficult for my parents to understand that Elvis would be so interested in me and why. And I really do think because I was more of a listener. Elvis would pour his heart out to me in every way in Germany: His fears, his hopes, the loss of his mother — which he never, ever got over. And I was the person who really, really sat there to listen and to comfort him. That was really our connection. Even though I was 14, I was actually a little bit older in life — not in numbers. That was the attraction. People think, ‘Oh, it was sex.’ No, it wasn’t. I never had sex with him. He was very kind, very soft, very loving, but he also respected the fact I was only 14 years old. We were more in line in thought, and that was our relationship.”

While Priscilla still has a soft spot for Elvis, their relationship wasn’t without troubles and they eventually got divorced in 1972 (he died just five years later on Aug. 16, 1977). She detailed in her memoir that he could be very controlling, manipulative, and often treated her as a “living doll.” She added that the lifestyle was very difficult for her but even after they split, they remained friends and she made sure that he saw his only daughter all the time.

As Priscilla is gaining an audience, AI (artificial intelligence) is also jumping on the Elvis craze. Not only have people been using AI to have Elvis sing unusual songs but someone has shared what Elvis may have looked like now if he had lived. Elvis passed away in 1977 at the age of 42. If he were alive today, he would be 88 years old. Photos created by DALL-E 2 AI show a much older Elvis, with wrinkles, sagging skin, his famous blue eyes, and his dark coif hairstyle.
