Not long after Elton John celebrated his final show, he suffered a fall at his home in France and was taken to the hospital. In July, John completed his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour in Stockholm, Sweden after traveling around the globe doing 330 shows. On Sunday, the 76-year-old was hospitalized after falling at his summer home in Nice, France but reports say that he is currently doing well.

A representative for John said that he was only taken to the hospital as a “precautionary measure” and was discharged on Monday morning. He is back at home, healthy and doing well, likely surrounded by his family, including his husband David Furnish, and their two sons, Zachary, 12, and Elijah, 10.

John had been performing his final tour for about five years before its recent conclusion. There were many delays due to the pandemic as well as his health. After the last show of his long and successful career, he shared with fans, “When we set off on my final tour in 2018, I couldn’t have foreseen in my wildest dreams the twists and turns and the highs and lows this tour – and the whole world – would have experienced in the next 5 years. And every step of the way, my fans have been there. You have stuck with me, you have supported me, you have been patient and you have kept turning out for every single last show.”

He added, “Saturday night was magical. I’m trying to process it and I don’t think it will sink in for a while yet that I’m finally finished touring. I can’t tell you how much I’m going to miss you all and how much your support has humbled me – it will stay with me forever.”
