Summer Under the Stars (SUTS), Turner Classic Movies’ annual August programming favorite, returns August 3 celebrating Stella Stevens.

Married at 16 and a mother at 17, former playmate and blonde bombshell Stella Stevens may have had a somewhat turbulent personal life, but her early maturity was likely what made her stand out to studio execs when she was starting out in Hollywood. She got her big break in Say One for Me (1959) when she was 20. Today, TCM will showcase a variety of films she starred in, starting in early morning and ending the following day. Films include How to Save a Marriage and Ruin Your Life (1968), a romcom with Dean Martin about a carefree bachelor who attempts to get his best friend to leave his mistress and go back to his wife; The Courtship of Eddie’s Father (1963), a comedy also starring Ron Howard as a boy who tries to find a new wife for his father; Girls! Girls! Girls! (1962), a musical comedy costarring Elvis Presley; The Silencers (1966), an action-adventure comedy about a retired agent recruited to stop an atom bomb and costarring Dean Martin again; and Slaughter (1972), a crime drama costarring Jim Brown and Rip Torn in which a former Green Beret avenges the deaths of his loved ones by the mob.
