‘The Thin Man’ Star Myrna Loy Is TCM’s Star of the Month, Get Full October Schedule
This October, TCM is celebrating Star of the Month Myrna Loy, one of Hollywood’s most versatile stars. She will be featured each Monday, starting with an all-day marathon on Monday, October 5, then airing on Monday nights at 8 pm ET.
Myrna Loy started her film career playing exotic villains and background dancers before becoming one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. After years of small roles in the late 1920s and early 1930s, her big break came in 1934 as Nora Charles in The Thin Man, where her smart humor and chemistry with William Powell won over audiences. With her sharp wit and down-to-earth style, she brought intelligence and grace to every role, remaining one of the most beloved stars of Hollywood’s golden age.
Loy enjoyed a career spanning more than six decades, evolving from a glamorous silent-screen and pre-Code performer. Although she never received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress, Loy’s sophisticated comic timing, warmth and effortless chemistry with her costars made her one of the era’s most enduring stars.
