Less than two months after singer Jimmy Buffett was hospitalized for unknown health issues, he was back at it with a surprise, very special appearance at a concert in Rhode Island. The 76-year-old showed up and performed during his friend Mac McAnally’s concert at a waterfront bar in Sunset Cove. McAnally is a longtime member of Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band and was heard singing “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere.”

He changed up the lyrics to “At a moment like this, I can’t help but wonder what would Jimmy Buffett do?” Buffett then appeared on stage and replied, “I would come play for you.” The audience appeared shocked and pleased as they saw Buffett come up to the stage. Buffett returned the pleasantries and said, “Well, it is good to see an audience, let me tell you that.”

Back in May, Buffett shared on social media that he had to cancel an upcoming show in Charleston, South Carolina after having some health problems. He wrote, “Two days ago, I was just back from a trip to the Bahamas, thawing out from the California ‘winter tour,’ and chomping at the bit to get to Charleston. I had to stop in Boston for a check-up but wound up back in the hospital to address some issues that needed immediate attention.”

He continued, “Growing old is not for sissies, I promise you. I also will promise you, that when I am well enough to perform, that is what I’ll be doing in the land of She-Crab soup. You all make my life more meaningful and fulfilled than I would have ever imagined as a [tow] headed little boy sitting on the edge of the Gulf of Mexico.” Buffett also thanked fans for their support and promised that he was not going to give up just yet.

Buffett has said that once he is feeling back to normal, he will begin rescheduling and scheduling new shows. He added that playing music is just as therapeutic for himself as it is for his fans who love to sing along to his tunes including his famous “Margaritaville.” Not only does Buffett still perform, but he is always working on new business ventures including his latest, a retirement home community called Latitude Margaritaville. The community has received rave reviews and Buffett even pops in for surprise performances now and again. Perfect for any devoted Parrothead!

UPDATE: We are sad to report the icon has sadly passed away at the age of 76 on September 2, surround by his friends, family & dogs. Thanks for all the fun Jimmy!
