Jaclyn Smith Announces Her New Memoir ‘I Once Knew a Guy Named Charlie’

Jaclyn Smith announced her memoir, I Once Knew a Guy Named Charlie, which will be published on Sept. 8, 2026, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Charlie’s Angels.
The book covers Smith’s life story with a strong focus on family and includes a significant chapter about her time on Charlie’s Angels, the role for which she is best known.
Smith, along with fellow Angels Kate Jackson and Cheryl Ladd, will celebrate the show’s 50th anniversary at PaleyFest LA and be honored at the Paley Honors event in New York City in 2026.

The 50th anniversary of Charlie’s Angels and news about the Angels continue to thrill fans, with the most recent being Jaclyn Smith announcing the release of her new memoir, I Once Knew a Guy Named Charlie, on Sept. 8, 2026.

During her appearance on HSN while selling her spring line, Smith shared a bit more about her book. “But it’s my life. There is a very big chapter on Charlie’s, but it goes way back to my childhood. That’s the theme — family.”

Smith also admitted, “It was the most difficult thing I’ve ever done. It took years. Because I kept saying, ‘no, yes, no, yes,’ and I finally got it done. And it came at a good time because we will be celebrating 50 years.”

Smith played the iconic character of Kelly Garrett on the hit TV series Charlie’s Angels. She was the only Angel to stay on for all five seasons of the show. After Angels ended she became known as the “Queen of the Miniseries” with such huge TV films as Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy (1981), George Washington (1984), The Bourne Identity (1988), Rage of Angels (1983), Rage of Angels: The Story Continues (1986), Florence Nightingale (1985), Windmills of the Gods (1988), and the list goes on and on.

She also went on to create a hugely successful clothing line at Kmart. She then expanded into jewelry, shoes, and kitchen and Christmas items. After Kmart stores closed, she took her Jaclyn Smith Collection to the airwaves on HSN.

“… I want to go behind the scenes and share the story of my life with you,” Smith told her fans via a video on her social media. “I can’t wait to walk down memory lane with you.”

Smith, Kate Jackson and Cheryl Ladd will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of Charlie’s Angels next month during the PaleyFest LA event on Monday, April 6, 2026, at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood.

The trio of Angels will also be seen together and honored at the Paley Honors being held in New York City. The actress will be on hand for the gala event as the iconic television show Charlie’s Angels will receive the organization’s Paley Honors Award. This event will be held on May 14, 2026, at New York’s The Plaza.

Smith also shared: “I think we’re going to do a documentary.” Fans on the internet went wild just with the idea of more Charlie’s Angels reunions later this year.
