‘Godfather’ Stars Honor Robert Duvall in Emotional Tributes After His Death

Robert Duvall‘s The Godfather costars, Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, honored the late actor with emotional tributes following his death — and many other celebrities followed suit.
On February 15, Duvall died at 95 while “peacefully at home, surrounded by love and comfort,” his wife, Lucia, announced on the Oscar-winning actor’s official Facebook page.
In rare public statements, both Pacino and De Niro reacted to the news. “It was an honor to have worked with Robert Duvall,” Pacino, 85, told Variety on February 16. “He was a born actor as they say, his connection with it, his understanding and his phenomenal gift will always be remembered. I will miss him.”
De Niro, 82, meanwhile, said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, “God bless Bobby. I hope I can live till I’m 95. May he rest in peace.” In addition to The Godfather (1972) and The Godfather Part II (1974), Duvall and De Niro also worked together in the 1981 film True Confessions.
Aside from his Godfather costars, Michael Douglas — who co-starred with Duvall in the 1993 movie Falling Down — shared a tribute.
“RIP Robert Duvall, one of the true all-time greats,” Douglas, 81, wrote on Instagram. “He was among the most respected actors in our business. And I will always be grateful for the opportunity to have worked with him on Falling Down many years ago. Sending my deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the Duvall family.”

Jane Seymour, 75, who worked with Duvall in the 1995 film The Stars Fell on Henrietta, took to Instagram with a tribute of her own, writing, “There are actors who perform, and there are actors who inhabit a role completely. Robert Duvall did the latter. His presence on screen carried honesty, weight, and grace.
She added, “I’m thankful for the moments shared and for the artistry he gave the world. He will be greatly missed. Sending my deepest condolences to his family. 🤍.”
Alec Baldwin, 67, also shared an emotional Instagram video reaction to Duvall’s death, while Adam Sandler, 59, called the late actor “funny as hell,” “strong as hell,” and “one of the greatest actors we ever had. ”
Additionally, Jamie Lee Curtis, 67, posted a photo of Duvall from The Godfather on Instagram. She captioned the update with, “The greatest consigliere the screen has ever seen. Bravo, Robert Duvall.”
