Who Are ‘The Pitt’ Star Katherine LaNasa’s Famous Exes?
What To Know
- Katherine LaNasa, who won an Emmy in 2025 for her role on HBO Max’s The Pitt, has been a steady presence in Hollywood since the late 1980s.
- Her famous ex-husbands include legendary actor Dennis Hopper, with whom she shares a son, and 3rd Rock from the Sun star French Stewart, whom she met on set and was married to for over a decade.
- Since 2012, LaNasa has been married to actor Grant Show, and the couple have a daughter together.
These days, Katherine LaNasa is enjoying one of the biggest professional highs of her life. Her role as Nurse Dana Evans on HBO Max’s The Pitt earned her an Emmy Award in 2025, a long-overdue honor for an actress who has been steadily working in Hollywood since the late ’80s on shows like Judging Amy and NYPD Blue.
LaNasa’s personal history is just as interesting as her professional history. Though she has been married to former Melrose Place star Grant Show since 2012, and the couple welcomed their daughter, Eloise, in March 2014, LaNasa was previously married to two very famous — and very different — men: iconic Hollywood outlaw Dennis Hopper and ’90s sitcom superstar French Stewart.

Her first husband was none other than the legendary actor Dennis Hopper. LaNasa was just 22 when she married the 53-year-old film icon in June 1989, becoming his fourth wife. At the time, she was transitioning from a professional dance career into acting, while Hopper was already a larger-than-life Hollywood rebel. In a December 1989 Los Angeles Times profile, LaNasa said she wasn’t having any trouble adjusting to life as the spouse of a major star: “Dennis isn’t a super-social person and he doesn’t put any kind of social pressure on me. On a personal level we have a very good relationship and a lot in common. I feel comfortable with him, so when we go out in public I feel comfortable and accepted.”
She also didn’t feel that her relationship with Dennis changed her professional life, saying, “Long before I met Dennis I got recognition for my dancing and I don’t feel like doors have opened to me because of him. When I create something, it’s on the line, good or bad. It doesn’t matter who I’m married to.”
The marriage drew attention because of the 31-year age difference, but the couple appeared together at high-profile events, including the 1990 Academy Awards. They welcomed one son, Henry Lee Hopper, before divorcing in April 1992.
In a 2025 New York Times profile, LaNasa reflected on what her early marriage to Hopper taught her about the nature of Hollywood. “I would go to dinners at Roddy McDowall’s, and there would be Lauren Bacall and Bette Davis and Liza Minnelli. It was bananas,” she told the paper. “I also got a whole education. There is no there there. People at the top feel rejected and not good enough and slighted, and they’re still having to scrap. You’re at the top for the very little moment that you’re at the top.”

On May 19, 1998, LaNasa married actor French Stewart, best known as the quirky alien Harry on 3rd Rock from the Sun. The two actually met in 1996, when LaNasa guest-starred on the series; if you’re curious about the 3rd Rock episode the pair met while filming, it’s season one’s “Green-Eyed Dick.”
The marriage lasted more than a decade, a respectable run by Hollywood standards. In contrast to her marriage to Hopper, LaNasa stayed pretty tight-lipped about the union, and hasn’t spoken publicly about her life with Stewart. The couple eventually divorced quietly in December 2009 after 11 years together, with little public drama.

Today, LaNasa has celebrated 13 years of marriage with Show, and is happy to talk about. In a 2026 interview with PEOPLE, she and Show joked about the secret to their long-lasting relationship. “Our key to staying married? Not getting divorced,” LaNasa told the magazine, while Show added, “Not breaking up.” Back in 2013, Show explained, “We just do things together all of the time. She’ll do things that are not necessarily things that she wants to do that I like to do — like she’ll go play golf with me — and then I’ll do things with her, like go shopping. And then you know, you just have to make sure to keep doing it.”
“We’ve made sure that we get together in the same city and in the same bed at least once every 10 days — no more than 10 days go by,” he added. “So I’ll fly to see her, she’ll fly to see me.”
