Dee Snider, 70, suddenly quit Twisted Sister amid “health challenges” after 50 years with the ’80s heavy metal band.

On Thursday, February 5, Twisted Sister took to Instagram with the shocking announcement of the cancellation of their 50th anniversary reunion tour.

“With Regrets,” the message from founder and rhythm guitarist Jay Jay French and lead guitarist Eddie Ojeda began. “Due to the sudden and unexpected resignation of Twisted Sister’s lead singer, Dee Snider, brought on by a series of health challenges, the band has been forced to cancel all shows scheduled, beginning April 25th in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and continuing through the summer.”

To conclude the update, the post shared, “The future of Twisted Sister will be determined in the next several weeks.”

Twisted Sister’s debut album, Under the Blade, was released in 1982. However, the heavy metal group broke through with their 1984 album, Stay Hungry, thanks to songs like “We’re Not Gonna Take It” and “I Wanna Rock,” in addition to tracks like “The Kids Are Back,” “The Price,” and “You Can’t Stop Rock ‘n’ Roll.”
