M*A*S*H star Alan Alda recently celebrated his 90th birthday — and fans were overjoyed to see rare photos of the actor posted by his grandson.

On January 28, Jake Alda Coffey took to X with two pictures of Alan, who played Hawkeye Pierce, during a birthday dinner.

“My grandpa is really touched by all the love he’s gotten today,” Jake captioned the update. “We had a lowkey night celebrating his 90th birthday, which was full of laughs. After dinner, we went home and ate rum cake a friend of his baked. A perfect end to the night.”

In the comments, X users flooded Alan with well-wishes, sharing their delight over the glimpse of the actor. One X user wrote, “Happy birthday to your wonderful grandpa, who brought so many of us joy for so many years. From MASH to all the other projects he was a part of, your grandpa was always so stellar. Glad you enjoyed the celebration.”

Another fan shared, “Thank you for sharing, Jake. Your grandfather meant a lot to me as I learned about poignancy wrapped in humor while watching MASH … every episode until the finale when I was 15.”
