Elvis Presley‘s fiancée, Ginger Alden, marked their engagement anniversary with intimate photos and a touching message on social media.

On January 26, Alden, 69, took to Facebook with a trio of photos of herself and The King — who died suddenly at 42 on August 16, 1977.

“This was a special day 49 years ago for Elvis and myself becoming engaged,” she captioned the update. “I will always hold dear his sincere and beautiful words to me then and near the end, his confiding in me and our love for one another.” She concluded, “Thank you Elvis, you filled my life with many wonderful memories❤️❤️❤️.”

The photos featured Alden’s engagement ring, as well as two snaps of the couple outside — one while wearing coats, and another seemingly during warmer weather.

In the comments, Facebook users joined her in remembering and honoring Elvis. One fan shared, “Ginger, I’m sure it’s a double-edged sword, getting engaged then losing Elvis. You’ve held your head high all these years. Elvis would be proud 🙏.”

Another follower wrote, “I’m so sorry you and him didn’t get your happy ending but those memories you have are priceless. Thinking of you x.”

Someone else commented, “A special day, a special memory. You know the love you had for each other, no one can take that away. Not even the ex.”

A different Facebook user shared, “Thinking of you today ❤️. …Bittersweet, but the love you received from Elvis is like no other. Cherish that, as I know you do.”

Meanwhile, yet another fan replied, “Ginger you are his soulmate and always will be. 💕. Thank you for sharing with us. Sending much love and respect to you.”

In January 1977, Elvis proposed to Ginger at Graceland mansion in his bathroom with an 11.5-carat diamond ring. He died less than seven months later from cardiac arrest.

Previously, Elvis was married to Priscilla Presley from 1967 to 1973. They welcomed a daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, who died in 2023.
