Depending on your age and tastes, you likely either know Lorenzo Lamas as the playboy Lance Cumson on ’80s nighttime soap Falcon Crest, or as Reno Raines, the cop-turned-bounty-hunter at the heart of the five-season syndicated ’90s action series Renegade. But know matter how you know him, the star — who turns 68 on January 20 — has had a long career that included roles on everything from The Love Boat to Phineas and Ferb, and though he’s stepped away from acting, he’s still around, especially through his active social media presence.

How did Lorenzo Lamas begin his career?

Born Lorenzo Fernando Lamas on January 20, 1958, in Santa Monica, California, he is the son of actor Fernando Lamas and actress Arlene Dahl. When he was 11, his father married Esther Williams, making the film star his stepmother, and the family later moved to New York City in the early ’70s. In 1978, Lamas appeared in Grease as Tom Chisum, a small role often cited as one of the early stepping stones to his TV career fully igniting.

That ignition came when he landed the role that made him a star. From 1981 to 1990, Lamas played Lance Cumson on Falcon Crest, the handsome, reckless grandson of Jane Wyman‘s Angela Channing. He was the only actor to appear in all 227 episodes, and the role earned him a Golden Globe nomination. After Falcon Crest, Lamas leaned into a tougher, more action-hero identity.

He headlined the syndicated series Renegade from 1992 to 1997 as Reno Raines, a falsely accused cop on the run, with a motorcycle-heavy, martial arts-friendly style that became part of the show’s brand. That action streak also played out in a long list of low-budget thrillers through the ’90s and beyond, including the Snake Eater films, which helped cement his cult-favorite status.

He appeared on daytime TV as Hector Ramirez on The Bold and the Beautiful from 2004 to 2006, popped up in more recent shows like Big Time Rush as Dr. Hollywood, and even did voice work, including Meap on Phineas and Ferb. He also leaned into reality television as a judge on Are You Hot? and as the star of Leave It to Lamas, which centered on his real-life family.

Where is Lorenzo Lamas today?

Lamas has worked as a helicopter tour pilot and, more recently, has been publicly associated with New York City tours through HeliNY. His personal life has remained in the public eye, on and off, for years, largely because he has been candid about how complicated it can be. He has been married six times and has six children total. Most recently, he married Kenna Scott in October 2023, but they appear to be separated now.

His most recent film is the 2025 Tubi Original action film President Down, but he can be found commenting regularly on martial arts and politics on his X.com account, and he also creates personal videos for fans on Cameo.
