Additionally, Wagner introduced “someone special” in the video to help mark Bionic Woman‘s 50th anniversary: the show’s creator, Kenneth Jonathan.

In The Bionic Woman — a spinoff of The Six Million Dollar Man starring Lee Majors as Steve Austin — Sommers, a tennis player turned government special agent, who was rebuilt with technology after a sky-diving accident. The show aired for three seasons from 1976 to 1978.

The studio initially wasn’t interested in continuing Sommers’ storyline in a spinoff, Jonathan explained, opting to kill her character off because of her body rejecting her bionic implants.

“They said, ‘We don’t want a lot of bionic people running around.’ And I said, ‘This is not a good idea.'”

After fan outcry and a closer look at ratings, however, Sommers was resurrected and featured in The Bionic Woman.
