Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin‘s sons still don’t realize he’s Kevin despite watching the beloved holiday film “often” with their dad.
“They have no idea that I’m Kevin,” Culkin admitted. “They’re only 3 and 4 years old,” he pointed out, explaining that he wants “to keep up that illusion as long as possible.”
However, Dakota seems to be getting closer to figuring out his dad’s Home Alone secret.
Culkin recounted putting his older son to bed one night when the preschooler “started asking questions about my siblings.” When he showed Dakota a photo of himself and his seven brothers and sisters (including actors Kieran Culkin and Rory Culkin), the 4-year-old “immediately looks at me and goes, ‘That kid looks like Kevin.'”
Additionally, Culkin said that Dakota “thinks he’s Kevin.” He recalled, “‘Do you remember when you kicked burglars out?’ And he’s like, ‘Yep.’ ‘You slide down the stairs?’ ‘I sure do.’ I was like, ‘You liar! That was me.'”
“Yeah, I do really love watching that movie with my boys,” Culkin told People.

In addition to Culkin, Home Alone starred Joe Pesci as Harry; Daniel Stern as Marv; John Heard as Kevin’s father, Peter; Catherine O’Hara as Kevin’s mother, Kate; Roberts Blossom as Marley; John Candy as Gus; and more. Culkin’s brother, Kieran, also played Kevin’s cousin, Fuller.
The equally loved sequel, Home Alone II: Lost in New York, reunited the characters in 1992. Donald Trump made a memorable cameo in the film, as he gave Kevin directions at the Plaza Hotel, which he owned at the time. Four other films are included in the franchise, although Culkin only appeared in the first two.
