Where Is the Cast of 1990’s ‘IT’ Now?
What To Know
- The 1990 miniseries adaptation of Stephen King’s IT remains a fan favorite, with Tim Curry’s portrayal of Pennywise and the adult Losers Club cast leaving a lasting impact.
- Many cast members, including Richard Thomas, Annette O’Toole, Dennis Christopher, Tim Reid, and Richard Masur, have continued successful careers in television, film, and theater, often participating in fan conventions and advocacy work.
It has been 35 years since the mini-series adaptation Stephen King‘s IT first aired on ABC on November 18, 1990, and while the story of evil Pennywise the clown and the residents of Derry, Maine, has been told a number of times since, for many fans, there’s nothing like the original. While Tim Curry‘s Pennywise became the stuff of nightmares, the adult Losers Club cast gave the story its emotions and made us care about the story. Here is where the surviving cast members are today, along with a look back at those we have lost and where you can watch the miniseries now.
Richard Thomas (74)

Richard Thomas was already a familiar face to audiences thanks to his star turn as John-Boy on The Waltons, and his performance as the adult Bill, the leader of the Losers Club, grounded the mini-series’ supernatural chaos.
He has continued to work steadily in television, film, and theater, appearing in projects such as The Americans, Ozark, and Billions, as well as in national touring productions of classic plays. Thomas often appears at conventions where fans celebrate both IT and The Waltons.
Annette O’Toole (73)

After IT, O’Toole continued to build an impressive résumé, including her beloved role as Martha Kent on Smallville. She currently stars as Hope McCrea on Netflix’s Virgin River and also writes and performs music with her husband, actor Michael McKean.

Following IT, Reid continued to find steady success in television with roles on Sister, Sister, That ’70s Show, and several made-for-TV films. Although Stan’s story in IT is brief in the adult timeline, Richard Masur delivered a heartfelt performance that left a lasting impact. A respected character actor, Masur has appeared in over 100 film and television roles, including The Thing, My Girl, Younger, and Transparent. He also served two terms as president of the Screen Actors Guild and remains active in both acting and advocacy work.
Tim Curry (79)
Pennywise

Perhaps the biggest name today out of the cast, Curry had already starred in major films like Annie, Clue, and Legend when he donned Pennywise’s red wig. He continued appearing in films like 1992’s Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, 1993’s The Three Musketeers and 1996’s Muppet Treasure Island, as well as on Broadway, where he picked up Tony nominations for My Favorite Year in 1992, and Spamalot in 2005.
A major 2012 stroke required years of rehabilitation; Curry still experiences mobility issues, and uses a wheelchair for movement. After a number of years out of the spotlight, in 2025, he released his memoir, Vagabond, and made both media appearances to promote the book and some live appearances to celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
