How the Grinch Stole Christmas star Taylor Momsen recently dished on what it was like working with Jim Carrey as they reunited 25 years after the beloved holiday film.
On Saturday, November 8, both Momsen, 32, and Carrey, 63, attended the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. They posed for photos on the red carpet together, marking their first reunion since the 2000 movie.
At the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California, Carrey helped introduce Soundgarden, as the band was among this year’s inductees. (He hosted Saturday Night Live in 1996, when Soundgarden was the musical guest.) Momsen, meanwhile, performed alongside Brandi Carlile, Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready, and Alice in Chains’ Jerry Cantrell at the event. (Her band, Pretty Reckless, opened for Soundgarden’s tour in 2017.)
The former child actress behind Cindy Lou Who spoke with People about working with Carrey — who played the titular character in How the Grinch Stole Christmas — after the reunion.
“I have a lot, honestly,” Momsen said when asked about her favorite memories of him while filming. “I just love that he was very protective of me. He was always very kind. And just the entire experience of filming Grinch and getting to know him so well, even in all the makeup, was just wonderful.”
She continued, “As a young person watching an artist at work and taking their craft so seriously, that left a really powerful, lasting impact on me as an adult now. And I’m excited to be able to tell him that as a grownup.”

Recently, Momsen also shared insight into what it was like working with Carrey as he played the Grinch.
“To me, he was always Jim, and he was always in makeup. He was very protective of me, very kind, super funny, super animated, absolutely awesome,” the Gossip Girl star recalled on the November 5 episode of Call Her Daddy. “But the funny thing is, I never knew what Jim Carrey looked like because I never saw him because he was there way early doing the prosthetics.”
She added, “I didn’t know who Jim was until the premiere, and someone had to point him out to me and go, ‘That’s Jim.’ And I went, ‘Oh, Jim.’”
For a limited time, How the Grinch Stole Christmas will return to select theaters on Dec. 12 to celebrate the film’s 25th anniversary.
