Sally Kirkland — the actress best known for her Oscar-nominated and Golden-Globe-winning performance in Anna (1987) — has entered hospice at 84.

On Sunday, November 9, TMZ reported that Kirkland had been hospitalized in Palm Springs, California, amid her dementia battle. Her “dear friend and former student,” Cody Galloway, was by her side, Kirkland’s rep, Michael Greene, told the outlet.

A GoFundMe campaign for Kirkland detailed her struggles with serious health issues and can no longer afford medical care.

“This past year Sally fractured her four bones in her neck, right wrist, and her left hip,” the description detailed. “While recovering she developed two separate life-threatening infections. The combination of these injuries and infections have required extensive hospitalizations and rehab beyond the 100 days insurance will cover.”

On October 2, a GoFundMe update shared that Kirkland was “receiving 24/7 care in a specialized facility, that is providing wonderful safety and care.” It added, “We are continuing to try raise money to cover the gaps between income and care costs. Thank you for all the love, support, and care for Sally.”
