Frasier and Cheers star Kelsey Grammer recently welcomed his eighth child — and the actor dished on what his kids really think of his having a baby at 70.

During an interview with People published on Wednesday, November 5, Grammer described having his newborn, Christopher (his fourth child with wife Kayte Walsh, 46), as “awesome and fantastic.”

“The family’s ecstatic,” he added. “We’re all really having a great time. It’s really lovely.”

He and Walsh also share a daughter, Faith, 12, and two sons, Gabriel, 10, and James, 8. Additionally, Grammer has four kids from previous relationships: a daughter, Rick and Morty and Greek actress Spencer Grammer, 41, with his first ex-wife, Doreen Alderman; a daughter Greer, 33, with his ex-girlfriend, Barrie Buckner; and a daughter, Mason, 23, and a son, Jude, 20, with his third ex-wife, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Camille Grammer.

“We are closer than we’ve ever been as a family, and I’m proud of that,” Grammer told People.

On October 27, Grammer announced baby Christopher’s arrival on the Pod Meets World podcast while speaking with Boy Meets World stars Rider Strong, Danielle Fishel, and Will Friedle.

“We just had our fourth one, it just became eight kids,” Grammer revealed. ”It was like three days ago. Christopher has just joined the family. Pretty cool. Yeah, isn’t that lovely?”

During a May 2025 interview with People, Grammer admitted that he has “neglected a couple of the kids in my life, especially the first two.”

“I’m trying to make up for a little of it now,” he shared. “I’m still their dad, so you can always have [a] chance to show up.”

Additionally, the father of eight shared how he’s parenting his younger children differently than he did his older ones.

“I probably should have been a little more clear and maybe less tolerant with the older ones,” he explained. “I’m pretty tolerant with the young ones, but I’m clear about how there’s certain expectations and certain ways to navigate through a social situation.”

Grammer joined Cheers during Season 3 in 1984 as Frasier Crane and remained on the sitcom until it ended in 1993. That same year, the spinoff Frasier premiered. It aired for 11 seasons, ending in 2004.
