4am: The Swarm (1978)

Get the party started with Michael Caine oddity, from the post-Jaws era of murderous animal films. The iconic British actor plays a scientist who must save the world from killer bees.

6 am: Two on a Guillotine (1965)

Connie Stevens plays the daughter of a murderous magician who must spend seven nights in his haunted mansion if she wants to inherit his estate.

8 am: What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962)

But ya are, Blanche! Ya are in that chair! Sisterhood has never been as toxic as it was in this comeback film for Joan Crawford and Bette Davis, which got Davis her final Best Actress nomination, and created the “psychobiddy” horror genre.

One of us! One of us! Many call this pre-Code Tod Browning movie about a group of carnival performers the original cult film. It failed at the time, but has since been reassessed as a masterpiece, and selected for preservation by the United States National Film Registry

4 pm: The Leopard Man (1943)

A three-movie mini-marathon of films by visionary French auteur Jacques Tourneur kicks off with this tale about a town where women are being picked off by an escaped leopard … or a deranged man.

5:15 pm: I Walked with a Zombie (1943)

6:30 pm: Cat People (1942)

Directed by Tourner and produced by RKO horror super-producer Val Lewton, Cat People follows Irena, a sweet and strange young newlywed who believes she will turn into a panther if she becomes sexually aroused.

7:45 pm: What Do You Think? (1937, short)

8 pm: Nightmare (1964)

This Hammer horror film is the essence of truth in advertising — the film focuses on the tormented nightmares of schoolgirl Janet.

9:30 pm: The Woman in the House (1942, short)

9:45pm: Curse of the Demon (1958)

11:15pm: Burn, Witch, Burn (1962)

End the night with this UK horror about a professor who discovers that his successes are not due to his own impressive intellect, but his wife’s impressive supernatural gifts.

Devil worshippers infest Greenwich Village, in this horror tale that almost plays like a serious version of Bell, Book and Candle.

2:15 am: The Woman in White (1948)

4:15am: The Hunger (1983)

Bela Lugosi‘s dead! Tony Scott‘s stylish New Wave vampire flick is more about sex than blood-drinking — and when your three leads are David Bowie, Catherine Deneuve and Susan Sarandon, can you blame him? Deneuve’s Miriam promised Bowie’s John that he’d be her companion in eternity … but maybe don’t trust promises made by sexy New Wave vampires.

6 am: Toby Dammit (1968)

This Fellini-directed 45 minute short was originally part of the anthology film Spirits of the Dead, which adapted Edgar Allan Poe stories. Fellini took a very loose approach to the short story “Never Bet the Devil Your Head” in this psychedelic drama about an alcoholic actor (Terence Stamp) whose trip to Rome goes awry due to paparazzi, fans, and also the devil.

6:45 am: Mystery of the Wax Museum (1933)

8:15 am: Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1932)

10 am: House of Wax (1953)

The great Vincent Price stars as a wax sculptor who survives an attempt on his life, and emerges with revenge (and wax!) on his mind.

11:30 am: The Bat (1959)

1 pm: The Invisible Man (1933)

A mid-day Universal monsters block kicks off with this James Whale-directed film about a scientist (Claude Rains) driven to madness by an experiment gone wrong.

3:45 pm: The Mummy (1932)

Karloff created his second iconic monster in two years with his performance as Im-ho-tep, an ancient Egyptian priest come back to horrifying life.

5 pm: George Hall and His Orchestra (1936, short)

5:15 pm: Frankenstein (1931)

6:30 pm: Bride of Frankenstein (1935)

7:45 pm: Who’s Superstitious? (1943, short)

8 pm: In Cold Blood (1967)

In primetime, take a trip away from fanciful horror into the real-life stuff, with this adaptation of Truman Capote’s non-fiction book about the brutal, senseless murder of a Kansas family. Robert Blake (who would late be accused of murder in real life!) stars as convict Perry Smith; the film was nominated for a Best Director Academy Award.

10:30 pm: Who Killed Teddy Bear? (1965)

This neo-noir about a nightclub hostess (Juliet Prowse) pursued by a stalker and aided by a policeman who sends off all kinds of red flags (Sal Mineo) was designed to revive Mineo’s career with a provocative role. It didn’t quite work, but it’s considered a cult favorite today.

2:15 am: Carnival of Souls (1962)

This atmospheric film about a young woman who is haunted by ghoulish figures after getting in a car accident was the only film ever made by director Herk Harvey — he was inspired by Bergman and Cocteau, but had to make do with the 1960s drive-in circuit.

3:45 am: Hausu (1977)

5:15 am: Eye of the Devil (1967)

7 am: Vampyr (1932)

This German near-silent film by Carl Dreyer, which follows a young student of the occult who visits a town under a vampire’s curse, winds the festivities down.
