Fans and fellow musicians are mourning the loss of John Lodge, the legendary Moody Blues bassist and vocalist who died at 82 on October 10, 2025. Tributes have poured in from around the world, with admirers remembering him not only for his groundbreaking work on albums like Days of Future Passed and In Search of the Lost Chord, but also for his warmth and faith. Many fans have shared how his music was the soundtrack to their lives, calling songs like “Ride My See-Saw” and “Isn’t Life Strange” timeless classics that carried deep meaning. Here are a few celebrity reactions to his death:

’70s super producer Tony Visconti, who helmed albums by David Bowie among others, shared a wonderful story about Lodge and said that he produced several albums for the Moody Blues.

He said,” John was a gregarious and generous man. When I told him I was about to ride my motorcycle from London to Barcelona and take a ferry to Ibiza, he insisted that I stop over at his home in the mountainous region of Catalunya, Spain. It was in the days before cellphones and therefore I arrived unannounced. I think he was a little ruffled when he opened his door, but my then lady and I were welcomed to his hospitality regardless. I asked him to take us to his favourite restaurant and I picked up the bill afterwards.”

Meanwhile, Liz, the widow of Moody Blues co-founder Denny Laine, spoke kindly of Lodge as well.

She said, “I met John during the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction weekend in 2018. He was very nice, gracious and easy to talk to. During the ceremony, our table was next to the Moodies table, which was filled with their spouses and family. Denny and I sat back to back to John and Mike Pinder.”
