TCM Celebrates 100 Years of Angela Lansbury as Their October Star of the Month
Turner Classic Movies Celebrates Actress Angela Lansbury Thursdays in October 2025, beginning at 8pm ET, all month long.
Dame Angela Brigid Lansbury is celebrated with lineups of her memorable films the first four Thursday nights this October on Turner Classic Movies (the fifth Thursday, Oct. 30, the network will be airing its annual scary movie marathon). The lineup on Oct. 16 will be particularly notable, as it takes place on what would have been the star’s 100th birthday (she was born Oct. 16, 1925, in London; she died in Los Angeles on Oct. 11, 2022, at the age of 96).
Thursday, Oct. 2 – Begins at 8pm ET

The first night features five of Lansbury’s earlier films, with highlights including her second feature, National Velvet (1944), led by Elizabeth Taylor and Mickey Rooney; her fourth film, The Harvey Girls (1946), the Judy Garland-led Western musical, and The Three Musketeers (1948), in which she plays Queen Anne alongside Gene Kelly, Van Heflin, Gig Young and Robert Coote as the Musketeers.

The lineup features one earlier Lansbury title, the 1947 drama If Winter Comes, led by Walter Pidgeon and Deborah Kerr. The other four films are from the actress’ work in the 1960s, including the romantic drama In the Cool of the Day (1963), with Peter Finch and Jane Fonda, and The World of Henry Orient (1964), a comedy/drama led by Peter Sellers.

TCM has saved some of Lansbury’s most memorable film performances for the five-title lineup on Oct. 16, the star’s centennial. It begins with her first movie, Gaslight (1944), in which she earned a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination alongside Best Actress winner Ingrid Bergman and Best Actor nominee Charles Boyer. The night also includes Lansbury’s Best Supporting Actress-nominated performances in The Picture of Dorian Gray (1945) and The Manchurian Candidate (1962), where she gives a wonderfully and unexpectedly sinister performance.
Thursday, Oct. 23 – Begins at 8pm ET

The final night of the Lansbury celebration on Oct. 23 features five titles from across her career, beginning with Death on the Nile (1978), the Agatha Christie-based mystery starring Peter Ustinov in his first turn as detective Hercule Poirot. Other highlights include The Reluctant Debutante (1958), a comedy starring Rex Harrison and Kay Kendall, and All Fall Down (1962), a drama that re-teamed Lansbury with Manchurian director John Frankenheimer and found her playing a similarly destructive and manipulative mother character.
