‘The Bernie Mac Show’ Child Star Reveals Shocking Feud With Costar

Dee Dee Davis might have found a loving home with her fictional family on The Bernie Mac Show, but in real life, her relationship with the cast is far more complicated
For five seasons, the actress played Bernie Mac’s niece Bryanna on The Bernie Mac Show. The sitcom followed Bernie and his fictional wife Wanda (Kellita Smith) as they took in his sister’s kids — Vanessa (Camille Winbush), Jordan (Jeremy Suarez), and Bryanna (Davis) — after she was ordered to go to rehab. The show followed their comedic trials and tribulations as the family attempted to make their dynamic work.
Now, over 20 years since the series first debuted, Davis revealed in an Instagram post shared by The Shade Room that her relationships with her fictional family were far more complex than what was depicted on camera.
In the post, Davis appears to be taking questions from viewers when she answers, “Are me and her cool? No. Will we ever talk again? Probably not. Will we ever be cool? No. And that’s what it is.”

She goes on to say, “Everyone else, I love. I love them.”
When asked by the audience to whom she was referring, Davis said: “Who? Whom? Who? Whom? I’m talking about the woman that played Bernie’s wife on the show.”
Though Davis didn’t go into detail as to why she had issues with Smith, she stated that she was “not cool” with the actress who played her aunt on the show.
She goes on to say: “Ya’ll are just nosy! No! Me and her ain’t cool! That’s it!”

Davis then went on to declare her love for the rest of the cast, particularly Winbush and Suarez, with whom she shared a close relationship. “Jeremy and Camille, I love them. Those are damn near my real siblings. Literally, like, the ADs on set, when I would walk in that morning and they would be talking about the episodes we would be about to start taping … they would be like, ‘You and Jeremy got a fighting scene.’ Yes! We got a fighting scene! We used to get excited! Like yeah, ‘I’ll see you after lunch!’,” laughed Davis at the memory.

“Jeremy, I love you,” continued Davis. “That is like my brother. For real.”
Davis then stated how much she would love to reunite with her “brother and sister” again, “It’s just so nostalgic for me to be around them. I love them so much.”
Chris Massey, who played Michael Barret on the Nickelodeon TV show Zoey 101, backed up her claims in the comments section, “I was there, she ain’t lying 😅😭.”
The Bernie Mac Show aired from November 14, 2001, to April 14, 2006, running for a total of 104 episodes. Bernie Mac passed away on August 9, 2008, from complications of pneumonia.
