One word, three times, and you get television history: “Marcia, Marcia, Marcia!” But what is Marcia — also known as actress Maureen McCormick— actually up to now? Though she keeps a lower profile these days, the one-time Brady Bunch star can still occasionally be found in front of the camera, as well as volunteering for causes close to her heart.

McCormick had a handful of television appearances before landing the iconic role of Marcia Brady, the eldest daughter on The Brady Bunch. McCormick embodied “America’s Sweetheart” during the show’s five seasons (from 1969-74) and on its spin-offs, 1972’s The Brady Kids and 1977’s The Brady Bunch Variety Hour.

However, it was challenging to escape the Brady shadow, even in the 1980s. McCormick landed roles in more mature features, like the rock biopic The Idolmaker and teenager slasher Return to Horror High. But, the family brought her back, and Maureen appeared in The Brady Girls Get Married, the short-lived series The Brady Brides and A Very Brady Christmas.

McCormick revealed how she struggled to deal with fame as a young star, and her life post-The Brady Bunch. In her autobiography, she wrote about how she “spiraled downward on a path of self-destruction that cost me my career and very nearly my life,” struggling with drug addiction and eating disorders.

After hitting rock bottom at the start of the ‘80s, McCormick decided to clean up her life. She credits her husband, Michael Cummings, whom she married in 1985, with helping her get sober.

“I feel incredibly lucky that I found sobriety. It’s been everything to me,” she told Us Weekly in 2024. “It’s not easy in the beginning at all, but it gets better every day. It does, you know? I’m so happy to be sober and to be really clear and comfortable in my skin.”

Since getting her life on track, she’s appeared in a handful of shows like Scrubs, The Ellen Show, Teen Angel and Herman’s Head. She has also starred in movies like Christmas Land, Accidentally Engaged, and Naughty & Nice. In 2019, she reunited with her Brady siblings for HGTV’s A Very Brady Renovation. She’s also hosted the series Frozen In Time, where she helped renovate retro homes.

As of 2025, McCormick has been acting in an off-Broadway production of Pen Pals. She has also been highly involved in philanthropy, supporting Best Buddies, an organization dedicated to empowering people with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
