We pity the fool who doesn’t know Mr. T‘s daughter, Erica Nicole Clark. Why? She’s a stand-up comedian and a witness to one of the most unbelievable backstage moments at WrestleMania.

“My dad is Mr. T. Most people say that I’m lying, but why would I pick him?” said Clark during a recent appearance with Don’t Tell Comedy, the secret pop-up comedy series that sends stand-ups to unusual venues.

Clark shared that while growing up, either “everybody believed me or no one believed me.” While her neighbors in her wealthy neighborhood knew her dad to be the star of The A-Team, her classmates did not. Even the teachers doubted her.

“I’m trying to explain to my friends that the reason why they’ve never seen my dad before is ‘cause he’s doing WrestleMania with Hulk Hogan,” said Clark.

It’s true—Mr. T and Hogan teamed up to take on “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff in the main event of the first WrestleMania on March 31, 1985. And Erica had a funny story about that.

“This one weekend, I went to this WrestleMania event with my Dad,” she explained. “It was the first time I was seeing wrestling live.”

Erica said that Mr. T. assured her and her sister that things were okay (“‘Oh, it’s all fake,’”), but things quickly became real during the match. “My dad gets into the ring, and immediately, ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper flips my dad in a way, and he cracks my dad’s ribs.”

From there, Mr. T has to go to the emergency room. Once Mr. T returns to his hotel — where Erica says Hogan was engaging in some NSFW extra-curricular activities — things got heated.

Clark said that Hogan was furious over what happened. “And there’s a knock at the door. It’s ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper. He goes, ‘Hey, T. I’m really sorry about what happened.’ And Hulk Hogan’s like, ‘F**k that!’ and grabs ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper. From there, a brawl ensues.

Afterwards, Erica and her sister got on a plane to go back home. “I go to class; we’re sitting in a sharing circle. And the teacher’s like, ‘What’d you do this weekend?’ And I was like, ‘not a [explicative] thing.’”

Mr. T — born Laurence Tureaud — married Phyllis Clark in 1971. The former couple has since divorced.

Erica spoke about her stand-up career in 2019. “A lot of my peers think it’s an unfair advantage,” she told NBC News. “But [Mr. T] being my dad can only get me in the door. You still have to be funny. They’re not going to keep putting you on stage because of who you’re related to.”
