Christopher Lloyd is still best known for his role as Emmett “Doc” Brown in the Back to the Future trilogy and he still loves to pay tribute to his character. Not only does Lloyd regularly reunite with his former castmate Michael J. Fox for conventions but he recently surprised the cast of the Back to the Future Broadway musical at one of their rehearsals.

The 84-year-old popped in about a month before the musical is set to premiere at Winter Garden Theatre. Back to the Future: The Musical first debuted in early 2020 and even during limited shows due to the pandemic, it has received rave reviews and won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical in 2022. The musical features some original music as well as music featured in the films including “The Power of Love.” Based on the same story as the film, it follows Marty McFly as he is transported back to 1955 after going into a time machine built by Doc Brown.

Casey Likes is set to play Marty McFly in the musical while Roger Bart will take on the role of Doc Brown. Lloyd met up with the cast and crew and gave lots of hugs as well as took the time to take some photos with everyone. Lloyd previously appeared in teasers announcing the Broadway show and has been showing his full support to the new venture, even though he is not a cast member in the musical.

Lloyd was also seen this past weekend reuniting with former co-stars Fox and Tom Wilson. He has said that he would love to do another Back to the Future movie but believes that the creators of the trilogy felt that the entire story was told in those three movies. However, he said that if someone had the right idea for a fourth movie it could happen based on how beloved those movies still are so many years later.

We certainly would love to see another Back to the Future movie. In the meantime, these reunions are really heartwarming.
