Chevy Chase Reunites With His ‘Vacation’ Families in New Video

Over the weekend of August 15 at Fan Expo Chicago, a little family reunion took place for the beloved Griswolds as cast members from the original National Lampoon’s Vacation films, along with friends and fans, gathered in the Windy City to celebrate the 1983 comedy classic.
Clark Griswold and #1 Wally World himself, Chevy Chase, took to Instagram to mark the occasion, sharing a short video with the caption, “Great time this past weekend in Chicago at @fanexpochicago with old friends and new ones.”
The video highlighted stars from across the Vacation franchise, including Beverly D’Angelo, who played matriarch Ellen Griswold throughout the franchise; Randy Quaid, best known as Cousin Eddie; Juliette Lewis, who portrayed daughter Audrey in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation; Anthony Michael Hall, the original Rusty in the first film; and Dana Barron, who originated the role of Audrey.
Celebrity fans who joined the reunion and appeared in the video included Rob Schneider, Brendan Fraser, and Thomas Lennon.

The event served as both a nostalgic look back at the cross-country misadventures of the iconic movie family and a chance for fans to connect with the stars who brought the Griswolds to life. More than four decades after its release, National Lampoon’s Vacation still holds a special place in pop culture, and the Chicago gathering proved that the story about the disastrous road trip to Wally World remains as beloved as ever.
Fans flocked to the comments section to signal their approval of the video, which was set to the music of Lindsey Buckingham‘s “Holiday Road,” the theme for the original Vacation.
“Eddie and Clark need one more movie together,” wrote one fan.
“We need a Christmas vacation where you guys are the grandparents now, but shot in that ’80s iconic style!,” wrote another.
“Randy goes right back into character. I love it. What a bunch of legends,” commented a fan.
