Dead Like Me has since become a cult classic show after it first premiered on Showtime in June 2003. Created by Bryan Fuller, the series followed Georgia “George” Lass, an 18-year-old who dies unexpectedly and becomes a grim reaper. Alongside an eclectic group of fellow reapers, she helps guide souls to the afterlife while dealing with her own lingering ties to the living world. The mix of dark comedy, heartfelt drama and supernatural intrigue made it a favorite, and it even spawned a 2009 follow-up film, Dead Like Me: Life After Death. While the show’s run was brief with only 29 episodes, its cast made a lasting impression. From television and film roles to entirely new career paths, here’s what the cast and creator have been up to in recent years. In case you want to catch up, the show is streaming now on Amazon Prime Video.

Fuller went on to create some of television’s most visually distinctive and imaginative series. His later projects include Pushing Daisies, Hannibal, American Gods and co-creating Star Trek: Discovery. In recent years, Fuller has shifted more into film. He wrote the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King‘s Christine and is set to direct an original horror film titled Dust Bunny.

After the series, she stepped back from acting with only a few roles, including a guest appearance on Hannibal, another Fuller project. Her decision to step away from Hollywood was a personal choice rather than a lack of opportunities. These days, Muth runs a coffee business and also breeds cats. While she no longer works regularly on screen, she occasionally attends fan conventions, including the recent Starfury Convention, reconnecting with viewers who still cherish her role as George.

Rebecca Gayheart (54)

Gayheart only appeared in the first five episodes of Dead Like Me, but she continued acting in films and television afterward. One of her most notable later roles was in Quentin Tarantino‘s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood in 2019. In 2025, Gayheart made headlines when she filed to dismiss her divorce from actor Eric Dane, after he was diagnosed with ALS, which she had originally initiated in 2018. She and Dane share two daughters, and the pair have been seen spending time together as a family, including a trip to Disneyland in the summer of 2025.

Jasmine Guy (63)

After Dead Like Me, he took on the role of Jason Gideon in Criminal Minds, though he left the series citing the show’s intense subject matter as emotionally difficult. His most acclaimed later role came as Saul Berenson in Homeland, which ran from 2011 to 2020 and earned him multiple Emmy nominations. In recent years, he and his wife Kathryn Grody co-created Seasoned, a semi-autobiographical comedy series. He also stars in NBC’s Brilliant Minds, a role inspired in part by personal family experiences.
