Last Surviving Cast Member of ‘Hogan’s Heroes’ Dies at 89

It is the end of a TV era, as the last surviving main cast member of the series Hogan’s Heroes has now died. Kenneth Washington, who played Sergeant Baker on the series, passed on July 18, 2025, at the age of 89. No cause of death has been given, but it was confirmed that he passed away at his home in Beverly Hills, California.

Not only did Washington play Baker in Hogan’s Heroes; he also appeared in shows such as Star Trek, I Dream of Jeannie, Petticoat Junction, My Three Sons, Dragnet, Adam-12, Marcus Welby M.D., The Rockford Files, Police Story and many others.

Born on October 19, 1935 in Ethel, Mississippi, Washington’s family later moved to California. It was from there he relocated to Los Angeles to start an acting career. Later in life, he went back to school and earned his college degree from Loyola Marymount University, becoming a professor at the college and teaching a course on Black actors in film. He also taught oral interpretation and speech at Southwest College.

He is survived by his wife Alice Marshall, three children Kim Lee, Kenneth Jr. and Quianna Stokes-Washington; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
