Donny Osmond Mourns ‘Brother’ Ozzy Osbourne With Throwback Video: ‘Talk About Crazy’

As the singer for Black Sabbath and the heavy metal maniac behind songs “Crazy Train” and “Bark at the Moon,” Ozzy Osbourne seemed like he’d have nothing at all to do with the clean-cut, wholesome bubblegum pop of The Osmonds. But, as viewers found on MTV’s The Osbournes, Ozzy and his family were just as loving as Donny and Marie Osmond.
And in the wake of Ozzy’s death on July 22, Donny took a moment to “remember my brother in music,” and how he crossed paths with the “Prince of Darkness” at the start of the 2000s. At that time, Pepsi had a flavor—Pepsi Twist—that added a twist of lemon to their recipe. So, they recruited Ozzy, Jack and Kelly Osbourne for a commercial.
As Ozzy struggles with putting a trash bag in the bin, Jack and Kelly come up to show their father their cans of Pepsi. Except, as Jack says, “these aren’t Pepsis. They’re Pepsi Twists.”

“You’re a bunch of bloody magicians,” says the confounded singer. But Kelly then reveals that she and Jack “are not the Osbournes,” before revealing that they’re “the Osmonds.” Cue a panicked Ozzy calling for Sharon Osbourne (and a Florence Henderson cameo). It’s a bit of hilarious pop culture that remained in Donny’s heart.
“I’ve always looked back at this commercial we shot in ‘03 so fondly,” he wrote when sharing the clip following news of Ozzy’s passing.
“The last time we spoke was backstage of Dancing with the Stars season 9, when he told me how much he loved the Osmond song, ‘Crazy Horses’…talk about crazy!” added Donny. Both he and Kelly Osbourne competed on the show in 2009; she finished third, while Osmond won the championship and the Mirror Ball trophy.
“Thank you for always bringing your authentic personality to everything you’ve touched,” added Donny in his heartfelt tribute to Ozzy. “From Crazy Horses to Crazy Trains, Rest In Peace.”
