Robert Wagner and Jill St. John have always been a picture-perfect couple, and now they’re marking a beautiful milestone together. On Monday, May 26, Wagner, 95, celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary with a touching post on Instagram that looked back on their decades of love.

“35 years of love, laughter and partnership with my beautiful Jill. Every day by your side has been a blessing. Happy Anniversary, my love. 💕🍾,” Wagner wrote, sharing a sentimental slideshow of the couple through the years. As the video begins, a sweet message appears on the screen: “I owe her everything 💕.”

The throwback photos offer a glimpse into their life together, showing moments from red carpet appearances to quiet days skiing, fishing and enjoying time with their dog. One of the most touching parts includes scenes from their 1990 wedding, including the two preparing to cut their cake.

Their story goes all the way back to the 1950s, when they first crossed paths as young contract actors at Fox. But it wasn’t until years later, after the heartbreaking loss of Wagner’s wife Natalie Wood in 1981, that the two reconnected in a meaningful way. St. John reached out with a sympathy note and flowers. Just two months later, they saw each other again at a dinner party.

That meeting changed everything. “That was it,” St. John’s friend and business partner Jayne Smith told PEOPLE in 1982. “[Wagner] just started calling. They started dating and have been ever since. She’s really in love.” At the time, St. John added, “I am very, very happy.”

The couple tied the knot in April 1990 and eventually traded the hustle of Los Angeles for the quiet charm of Aspen, Colorado in 2007. Wagner later wrote about his love for the mountain town in his 2008 memoir Pieces of My Heart, sharing that he had finally found peace there and hoped to be buried in the place he now calls home. It’s clear that through the highs and lows, Wagner and St. John have built a lovely life together. Happy anniversary!
