William Daniels, the 98-year-old known for playing teacher George Feeny on Boy Meets World, has become a fan favorite on Cameo, the app that offers fans personalized video messages from celebrities. Bonnie Bartlett Daniels, William’s wife on the ABC sitcom and in real life, told People that their son Michael films the videos — and that fans are often looking to Boy Meets World’s mentor figure to dispense wisdom from his nearly century-long life.

“Some of the answers are tough because a lot of people are depressed,” Bonnie said. “They want Mr. Feeny to give them some advice or cheer them up. And Bill and Mike figure it out [and] do it.”

On Cameo, William is listed as a “Fan Favorite,” and he has a perfect 5.00 rating from his 1,200-plus reviews. In online examples of his Cameos, the actor quotes Mr. Feeny’s advice: “Believe in yourself, dream, try, do good.”

Bonnie also said her husband’s Cameo customers aren’t just Boy Meets World fans: He also gets admirers of his portrayal of American founding father John Adams in the Broadway musical 1776 and its film adaptation.

“Sometimes [fans] want something from 1776, and that’s fun,” Bonnie, 95, said. “So he’ll give them a line or two from 1776, and people love that.”

William is also known for his TV roles as Dr. Mark Craig on St. Elsewhere — a medical drama for which he and Bonnie won Emmy Awards on the same night in 1986 — and as the voice of KITT on Knight Rider. In his most recent screen credit, William reprised the KITT role in the 2020 comedy film Superintelligence.

William told People “you have to be pleased” to have the fan base he has. “And I hope I’m around a little longer,” he added.
