John Bonham’s Son Playing Led Zeppelin’s ‘Physical Graffiti’ Album on Tour in Honor of 50th Anniversary

Jason Bonham, the son of late Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, is heading out on tour and honoring Led Zeppelin along the way. In honor of the band’s iconic album Physical Graffiti (Jason’s favorite), he will be playing the album in its entirety along with some of the band’s most famous songs during the tour. Jason followed in his father’s footsteps and became a drummer as well, playing with bands such as Foreigner and Sammy Hagar and the Circle.
Physical Graffiti, released on Feb. 24, 1975, features tracks such as “Custard Pie” and “House of the Holy.” Jason, who plays with the band JBLZE, shared with ABC Audio, “I do it for passion and the love of the music and the people that come to see it. You know, once they stop coming, then we’ll stop playing it, I guess,” adding that his favorite song from the album is “Kashmir.”

John sadly passed away in 1980 at the age of 32 and Led Zeppelin disbanded afterward, not wanting to move forward without him. However, the remaining members singer Robert Plant, guitarist Jimmy Page and bassist John Paul Jones have reunited a few times over the years, and have even been joined by Jason for certain performances in 1988 and 2007.
The new tour, which kicked off over the weekend in Connecticut, celebrates the 50th anniversary of the album’s release and will head around the country on 19 dates. If you’re interested in seeing a show, visit the tour website here.
Now tell us, what is your favorite song off of the album?
