Journey Drummer “Literally on Fire” During Recent Show

During a recent performance at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo at NRG Stadium, Journey had to stop performing mid-hit song for a frightening reason: Journey drummer Deen Castronovo confirmed that there was an electrical fire right under his drum rise, and that he was “literally on fire” for several songs.
During the band’s signature song “Don’t Stop Believin’,” performed by current singer Arnel Pineda, members of the band’s crew rushed onstage with fire extinguishers to put out the flames. At first, fans thought the fire was part of the show and kept belting out the beloved song. However, the concert was soon stopped and the crowd had to evacuate due to an “unforeseen electrical incident under the stage area,” according to Billboard.

Castronovo posted a photo of the aftermath of the incident and wrote on Instagram, “Hey, Houston! An act of God tonight! Fire broke out underneath the stage — right under my drum riser!🔥😲 I was literally on fire for 4 ½ songs, all the power cables melted, and the show was a BUST! That doesn’t mean we won’t be back soon, because we love you all — and WE WILL RETURN! #dontstopbelievin God bless you all!”
The stadium later posted on social media that they would update fans with information on rescheduling the show and refunds in the near future. Although fans were disappointed that the show ended early, luckily no one was hurt in the accidental fire. As of now, Journey has no upcoming shows scheduled. If you were at the show and witnessed the fire, be sure to comment and share your story!
