Goldie Hawn Makes Rare TV Appearance on HGTV’s ‘Celebrity IOU’

From her Oscar-winning role in Cactus Flower (1969) to Private Benjamin (1980), Overboard (1987) and her famous launching pad role as the body-painted Sparkle Farkel in Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In (1967-73), there’s so much to love about screen and TV legend Goldie Hawn. Tonight Goldie Hawn makes a rare TV debut on HGTV’s Celebrity IOU (Monday, March 10 at 9pm ET/PT), where she turns her attention to surprising a woman in her life she calls her “soul sister” — Celia.
“There’s no boundaries of love between us,” Goldie shares about the woman who for 45 years has protected her kids and Goldie. “Then my mom got sick and she protected my mother.”

At the time she met Celia, Goldie was going through a divorce from her second husband Bill Hudson, and their daughter Kate Hudson (or “Katie,” as Goldie calls her) was just 18 months old. Goldie was married to Bill from 1976-82, and prior to that was married to Gus Trikonis from 1969 to 1976. She eventually met her soulmate — Kurt Russell — in 1983 and has been with him ever since.
Celia came into her life and helped watch Katie, immediately becoming a member of their family. Celia also helped Goldie organize her chaotic life as she was doing back-to-back movies while navigating life without Bill. The two developed a lifelong friendship and love for one another.
“What would I say to her?” Goldie asks when talking about Celia. “I love you to the moon and back!”

Goldie was overjoyed to get the opportunity to join Drew Scott and Jonathan Scott in helping to create a stunning transformation of Celia’s kitchen and living areas, along with adding a much-needed pantry on Celebrity IOU. The Scotts were equally excited to meet the icon and felt like they couldn’t even tell their parents about shooting this episode, as Goldie is “epic royalty” and they “would lose their minds.”
HGTV saved the best episode of Celebrity IOU to end the season, as Goldie and the Scott brothers deliver an emotional and endearing close to the hit series.
