Whatever Happened to Punk Icon Debbie Harry? Where Is the Blondie Lead Singer Is Now
What To Know
- Debbie Harry, iconic lead singer of Blondie, continues to make music and is currently working on a new Blondie album.
- Beyond music, Harry remains active in entertainment and fashion.
- She is also a bestselling author and continues to look forward to new creative projects.
Angela Trimble — more widely known as Blondie lead singer Debbie Harry — was a pioneer in the American new wave scene, blending pop, disco, and punk influences beginning in the mid-1970s to the early 1980s (and beyond!).
Though the “Heart of Glass” rock group broke up and went their separate ways in 1982, they have been active ever since their reunion in 1997, and Harry, along with former longtime boyfriend/guitarist Chris Stein and Sex Pistols bassist Glen Matlock, is currently working on a new Blondie album, High Noon, to be released in the spring of 2026.
However, future touring plans are uncertain with the passing of Blondie’s drummer, Clem Burke, in 2025.

Over the decades, Harry, who turns 81 on July 1, has been involved in various other endeavors in addition to leading the hit band. Just last year, Harry was featured on the song “Immortal Queen” by Sia, which included Chaka Khan, who happens to be Sia’s godmother.
Harry has also had a diverse acting career, appearing in David Cronenberg‘s Videodrome in 1983, John Waters‘ films Hairspray in 1988, Tales from the Darkside: The Movie in 1990, and the 1990s television series Sabrina the Teenage Witch, plus a long list of other movies and shows. Most recently, she starred in a short film titled Catharsis (2024) and narrated the sci-fi documentary So Unreal by filmmaker Amanda Kramer, which premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2024. The film explores the relationship between cinema and technology.
Harry has always been a fashion icon and enthusiast. She recently collaborated with the genderless fashion brand Wildfang on a collection, incorporating her rock ‘n’ roll style with grommets and chains. The campaign for this collection was shot during Blondie’s Belfast show in 2024. And she is no stranger to attending fashion week, as pictured below with bandmate Chris Steins’ daughter Vali at a 2026 New York Fashion Week show.

Harry is also a bestselling author. In 2019, she published a tell-all memoir titled Face It, though, by her own admission, reflecting on the past has never really been her thing. “I try not to live in the past,” she says. “I look forward to making new music, doing new things, and making new relationships. So in a way, this book has sort of cleared the decks for me. And I’m really looking forward to writing new material.”
Most recently, she made a surprise appearance on SNL, her first since 1987, introducing dual host and music artist Olivia Rodrigo for her first musical performance of the night.
