Friends and Seinfeld both have more than having been on Thursday nights and on NBC in common. Diehard fans of each show believe that their favorite is the best sitcom ever. Do you think that “The Contest” that Jerry (Jerry Seinfeld) and his friends competed in on Seinfeld to be unbeatable? Or did Ross (David Schwimmer) saying “Rachel” (Jennifer Aniston) at his wedding ceremony to Emily (Helen Baxendale) endear you to the Central Perk gang forever?

If you want to hear devotees of your favorite sitcom go to the mat, you’re going to want to check out Rivals on YouTube. The 14-episode series pits four hosts – Courtney Revolution (The Circle), Jade Catta-Preta (Hotties), Monica Loomba (Platonic) and Alyssa Sabo (Gaslit) – against each other as they decide, among other pop culture topics, why Seinfeld or Friends is the superior series!

Anyone who’s ever championed over whether Ross and Rachel were on a break or not (they were, right?) or wondered what Kramer (Michael Richards) would do next, can relate to this series.

Sure, things get heated, but executive producer Meredith Prunkard says that “at the end of the day, it’s all in fun. What I love most about this cast is that they don’t hold back. I saw that dynamic from the beginning. They’re so respectful of each other but the beauty of the show, too, is that they will scream at each other from across the table. At the end of the episode, everyone is back to being besties. The underlying tone of the show is comedy.”

“It’s always a little bit of a battle,” Catta-Preta says. “People have an instant team that they want to be on. Alyssa and Monica prefer to take on the underdog. We have a big age gap between [some of] us. We love different things for different reasons.”

Watch for the series to take on the most well-known aspects of the topics that will be debated. The show will revisit classic moments of shows and other topics that they debate. “We’ll ask if there is an undeniable moment from a show – like Ross putting on leather pants or getting his teeth bleached,” says Catta-Preta.

Rivals takes on more than your favorite sitcoms. Episodes will delve into many different pop culture debates, so watch for the hosts to tackle other greats like best boyband of the 90s, the ultimate pop star diva, and the best soft drink of all time. There’s no right answer, but there’s always a winner!

The show’s hoping to reach as broad an audience as possible by being on YouTube. “We’re super-excited about being on YouTube,” says Catta-Preta. “I’m Brazilian and we’re hoping that, internationally, this becomes a thing.”

New episodes of Rivals premiere on Thursdays, 2pm EST/1pmCT, on YouTube
