This month marks the 44th anniversary of the tragic murder of iconic musician John Lennon. He left behind two sons: Julian Charles John, whom he shared with his ex-wife Cynthia Lennon and Sean Tara Ono, whom he shared with his widow Yoko Ono. While the brothers didn’t necessarily grow up together as they had different mothers, they remain close and recently got together to reminisce about their father and his legacy.

Julian shared several photos of himself hanging out with Sean at The Dakota, the New York City apartment building that their father once lived in. He captioned the snaps of their dinner: “♥️🙏🏻😘A Goodnight kiss for my brother, after spending the evening with him, having a lil dinner & chatting the night away, at The Dakota. Something we rarely get to do… Thankful.”

John and Yoko moved into The Dakota in 1973 and reportedly owned five units in the complex, located in the Upper West Side of New York City. They used the units as their primary residences, a guest house, storage space and a studio for Yoko and her art. Sadly, John was also shot and killed in front of the complex at just 40 years old, when his sons were still quite young.

Both Julian and Sean have followed in their father’s footsteps and formed a music career. Julian has released seven studio albums including one titled Jude in 2022, a reference to the Beatles’ song “Hey Jude.” He is also an accomplished photographer and just released his first photo book, Julian Lennon: Life’s Fragile Moments.

Meanwhile, Sean has released four solo albums, plus five with his mother Yoko, and three with the band Claypool Lennon Delirium. He also recently collaborated with Paul McCartney’s son and works as a music producer.
