Watch Dean Butler Tour a Fan-Made ‘Little House on the Prairie’ Replica Home (Video)
Dean Butler, who played Almanzo Wilder on Little House on the Prairie, is no stranger to passionate fan tributes to the show. But even he seemed amazed when he visited a full-sized, livable replica of the Ingalls house, built by Little House super-fans Ni and Doug Little. The Littles constructed their own replica of the Ingalls’ lofted home and have been living there for around seven years with their family.

The interior and exterior of the home are almost an exact double for the old Ingalls place, though Butler described it as “bigger, and certainly more airtight” than the TV set was. One other difference between the Littles’ house and the actual Little House: an indoor bathroom, which was Doug’s singular demand when they built the home.
@jenbrallier I work for @officialdeanbutler and get to travel with the cast of Little House on the Prairie regularly for my job. On this trip, we were invited to see this Little House replica of someone’s home. They built this because of their love of the TV series and it is their personal residence. Absolutely incredible. ##littlehouse##almanzowilder##deanbutler##littlehouseontheprairie##80stvshow##lapetitemaisondanslaprairie##lauraingalls##nellieoleson##charlesingalls##michaellandon ♬ Little House on the Prairie (MainTheme) – TV Generation
According to the Littles’ Facebook page about the house, Little House in the Ozarks, it took four years to build the house, and the bottom floor measures 30 feet by 30 feet, while the loft is 12 feet by 19 feet.
Despite the many fans commenting that they would like to visit, for now, the Littles’ home is a private residence … except for former cast members of Little House, that is. Butler is the first cast member to make it to the replica house, though the Littles hope that he won’t be the last.

Butler delivers the final judgment: “Pretty cool.”
Would you want to live in a replica of the Ingalls homestead? Or do you need modern amenities a bit too much to rough it?
