84-Year-Old Ringo Starr Cancels Upcoming Performances

The BeatlesRingo Starr announced this week that he will be cancelling the final shows of his North American tour for health reasons. The 84-year-old came down with a cold and was advised by doctors to get some rest in order to have a full recovery.

An announcement posted on his Instagram read, “Today Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band announced that unfortunately they have to cancel their upcoming last two shows including tonight’s performance at TD Pavilion at The Mann in Philadelphia, PA and tomorrow at Radio City Music Hall in New York City due to illness.”

The band added that ticket holders should be automatically refunded, but if they are not, they should contact the website where they purchased their tickets. As of now, there are no rescheduled dates.

While many fans expressed disappointment regarding the cancellations, most understood and posted wishes for the drummer to get well soon.

Starr, who turned 84 this past July, confirmed that his health is generally top-notch and added that he works out almost every day to stay fit and healthy. Starr and his band were on a 12-date tour around the country that kicked off earlier this month.

He had been sharing videos and photos from the shows and expressed gratitude toward fans. Alongside a photo of a show in Connecticut, Starr wrote, “Thanks for the great night, Mohegan Sun Arena. What a great night, like one big get-together with the audience and the band. Love it. Peace and love.” Wishing him a speedy recovery!
