Brigitte Bardot Turns 90! Where Is She Now?
Born on Sept. 28, 1934, the iconic star Brigitte Bardot turns 90 this month.
Living in Paris with wealthy parents, Bardot began modeling at a young age, appearing on the cover of Elle at just 15 years old. She was soon discovered by director Roger Vadim and started acting in French films, eventually moving on to several American movies. Her success of the 1960s began to wane in the ’70s, and she decided to retire in 1973 when she was just about to turn 40.
After retiring from acting, she focused her attention on establishing an animal welfare organization called Foundation Brigitte Bardot, and she has been an outspoken animal rights activist. During the ’60s and ’70s, she also had several marriages and whirlwind romances before settling down with Bernard d’Ormale in 1992, whom she is still married to today.
Bardot has also been the center of controversy in the past few decades. She has received six different fines for inciting racial hatred after making comments about other nationalities and religions in her books and posts online.
These days, she reportedly lives in Saint-Tropez, France, and maintains a quieter lifestyle, trying to stay out of the fray. However, just last year, she was in the news due to a health scare. First responders rushed to her home after she couldn’t breathe. Apparently, she’d had breathing issues due to the heat wave in Saint-Tropez at the time and she recovered quickly. Unfortunately, not much else is known about her current life, as she prefers to stay private. In honor of her birthday, learn more about Bardot below:
