Today marks the 10-year anniversary of the death of country icon George Jones, also know as the “Possum.” Some of today’s top country stars, along with the old, recently did a live show/taping commemorating the late star for PBS’ Great Performances called “Still Playin’ Possum: Music and Memories of George Jones.” While no release date has been announced yet, some of the all-star lineup included a special appearance by Randy Travis along with Travis Tritt, Dierks Bentley, Brad Paisley, Wynonna Judd, Jelly Roll and Tanya Tucker, to name a few performing his songs, covering all of Jones’ hits from “He Stopped Loving Her Today” to “White Lightning” and many more.

This is not the only show to highlight Jones recently; a limited series on Showtime, George and Tammy, stars Jessica Chastain as George’s late country star wife Tammy Wynette and Michael Shannon as George.

Here’s a look back at some of our favorite hits from the Possum himself.
