‘Lost in Space’ Star June Lockhart, 99, Discovered She Has Social Media Imposters
99-year-old June Lockhart calls herself a “news junkie.” She reads newspapers including The New York Times and Los Angeles Times regularly, but Lockhart said that she does not dabble in social media. Unfortunately, she recently found out that she has some imposters on social media who are pretending to be her and asking fans for money. It is unclear how many people got scammed but Lockart begged for fans to “please report these fake pages to administrators.”
Although this discovery disheartened Lockhart, she said that she has learned not to stress too much over anything at her age. “I don’t spend any time dwelling on things I can’t change,” she said. “Everything is in flux. Wait a moment and things will work out.”
Despite the upsetting news, it isn’t all bad on Facebook. There is a group called The June Lockhart First Appreciation Society which boasts over 2,500 fans and appears to share their favorite photos and memories of the star, best known for Lost in Space and Lassie.
While Lockart hasn’t appeared in anything since 2021 when she made a voice cameo in the newer Lost in Space television series, she said she stays in touch with many of her former costars, who are now some of her best friends. She said that she loves catching up with Bill Mumy, Angela Cartwright and Marta Kristen, who played her children in Lost in Space, as well as Jon Provost, who played her son Timmy in Lassie. “I am proudest of the colleagues and friends I have made throughout my lifetime in the industry,” she shared.
