Catherine Bach is still best known as Daisy Duke from The Dukes of Hazzard, always rocking her “Daisy Duke” short shorts. In a recent interview, Bach talked about the iconic shorts, admitted that she still wears them around the house and opened up about the possibility of a reunion or a reboot of the classic series, also starring John Schneider and Tom Wopat.

She said that fans could catch her wearing the shorts, made famous in the ’80s, “Only if you come to my house and watch me garden. Or at the beach. I’ll be honest, at the beach.” She added that while she is now immensely grateful for the role, she originally didn’t think she would get cast in the show.

Bach explained that they were looking for someone to fill the role for a long time but she didn’t think she had a shot. She said, “A few weeks later, I was at some little Italian restaurant in Beverly Hills with my girlfriend, who directed my one-act play . . . I tell her, ‘I do have this interview that I’m supposed to go, but I’m not. . . . You know the part of Daisy Duke for Warner Bros.? They want me to come in, but I know I’m not going to get it.’ . . . She goes, ‘It’s Warner Bros. You never know who you’re going to meet on the way in and on the way out. Just go!’ So I went. After I did my reading during the audition, there was total silence. I thought, ‘Oh no, they didn’t like what I did.’ Then everyone, we’re talking about 30 people, got up and started clapping. They just connected with my vision of how this part should be played. Two weeks later, I was on a plane to Georgia.”

Fans are certainly glad that Bach took a chance and went to the audition. She said she is always being asked about a reunion or a reboot featuring the original stars and shared, “Well, you know, shows are a mystical thing at best, because you never know what’s going to work and how things are going to click. And you have to have a good writer. It can’t just be writing on an idea. You have to execute that idea. So, yeah, if everything comes together. Of course. I’m still here, the guys are still here. It would be great, but I don’t know.”

Bach remains close to her Dukes of Hazzard costars and recently attended the small wedding of Schneider and his new bride Dee Dee Sorvino. What do you think about a reunion or reboot? Would you watch it?
