Remember Bat Boy From the ’90s? The Wild Story is in the Works at Netflix

If you devoured tabloids in the 1990s, you likely remember when Bat Boy flew onto the pages of Weekly World News. In 1992, what turned out to be a fictional creature named Bat Boy graced the cover of the tabloid and became a pop culture icon, spawning many ongoing stories and even an off-Broadway musical called Bat Boy: The Musical.
In the stories, Bat Boy is a half-human, half-bat creature who is being pursued by the United States government and scientists. Of course, even when Bat Boy was captured, he made his escape, always having the last laugh against characters Dr. Ron Dillon and Matthew Daemon, S.O.S. (Seeker of Obscure Supernaturals). The story was dreamed up by Weekly World News editor Dick Kulpa and written by Bob Lind.
Now, a live-action television series is in the works with Netflix, in the young adult genre. The self-proclaimed horror-comedy is being brought to fans by YA genre writers Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Riverdale) and Joe Tracz (Dash & Lily). The series will follow a teen named Bobby Bates, who has help from teens Charisma and her sister Olive, to go back to school and re-enter society after living alone outside of a defunct carnival.
