This year, as we celebrate 100 years of the Walt Disney Company, we also celebrate 50 years of the Disney Channel! While the Disney Channel really found its stride in the ’90s and ’00s, it has been around since 1983. In the ’80s, the focus was on true Disney characters like the iconic Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Winnie the Pooh. As the years went on and the channel grew in popularity, Disney aired more and more original series mainly focused on different types of families.
