In Dublin, Ireland, guests of a historic hotel had to evacuate due to a fire and while journalists were covering the event on television, they came across Henry Winkler! Turns out that Winkler was visiting Dublin to promote his memoir Being Henry: The Fonz… and Beyond and was staying at the hotel. He was one of the last to evacuate because he didn’t realize it was a real fire at first.

In the interview, he shared, “When I heard the fire alarm, I thought it was the clock radio.” He went into another room and still heard buzzing at the Shelbourne Hotel. “I called downstairs and the woman said in a very calm voice: ‘Yes! We’re all evacuating! You must evacuate right now!’” Winkler added, impersonating the women in a panicked tone.

Luckily, no one was hurt and the fire was quickly put under control by the fire department. After everything calmed down, Winkler seemed in good spirits and snapped a photo with several firemen and thanked them for their service. He wrote, alongside the snap, “Thank you Dublin ‘s fire department … our hotel was evacuated on our first morning !!!

Oddly enough, this isn’t the first time that Winkler has given a surprise interview in another country. In 2013, he was stopped by a BBC reporter in London who wanted to know how he felt about the new runway at the Heathrow airport. The reporter didn’t realize who Winkler was until after he started talking to him and said he was quite starstruck! Winkler gave a lovely response about not being native to the area but thought the expansion could bring more people in and help their economy.

Just another crazy day for the Fonz, am I right?
