Michelle Pfeiffer worked steadily in Hollywood for decades. She received eight Golden Globe and three Oscar nominations for several of her roles in the ’80s and ’90s. Then, in the 2000s, her movie and television appearances became scarce. Now, she’s back at it and recently appeared in the newest Ant-Man film as well as portrayed Betty Ford in the series The First Lady. So, why did she take a break from working when she was at the height of her career? Like many stars, she wanted to focus on her family.

Pfeiffer admitted that when she didn’t have any children, work was her main focus. However, things changed when she wed her husband David E. Kelley and they had two kids, Claudia and John. When they were small, she could bring them on set but as they got older and needed to go to school and other activities, things got a bit harder to balance.

Pfeiffer revealed, “When they got into school it became even more complicated, because I didn’t want to just take them out of their routine, so I would shoot in the summer and tried to not be away for more than two or three weeks at a time. It became challenging for people to hire me, because it was too complicated. It was easier to get somebody else to do the part.”

However, as her children aged and began looking at colleges, Pfeiffer saw it as a chance to revive her career but it wasn’t as easy to just get back into it. She said, “Your seat is never saved in this industry. It’s very competitive. I’m at an age when the parts are getting more interesting again for me. I guess the timing of it really worked out, because I don’t feel I missed out on much.”

Pfeiffer is now 66 years old and has two projects in pre-production. We can’t wait to see what she does next! Tell us, what is your favorite role that she’s ever done?
